The Software Systems Engineer plays a crucial role in coordinating processes and ensuring seamless collaboration between development, operations, program management, system architecture teams, and the test automation team within a DevOps framework. This role emphasizes process optimization, strategic planning, and facilitating communication to drive successful project outcomes, with a specific focus on Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) development and coordination.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Process Coordination and Optimization:

  • Coordinate and optimize development and operational processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with program management to align project goals with operational capabilities and timelines.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement initiatives to streamline workflows and reduce bottlenecks.


Collaboration with Program Management:

  • Work closely with program management to define project requirements, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Ensure that project milestones and deadlines are met through effective coordination and communication.
  • Provide regular updates to program management on project status, risks, and mitigation strategies.


Strategic Planning with System Architects:

  • Collaborate with system architects to design scalable, reliable, and secure software systems.
  • Ensure alignment between system architecture and operational practices.
  • Participate in architectural reviews and provide feedback on system design and integration.


Coordination with the Test Automation Team:

  • Work closely with the test automation team to ensure seamless integration of testing processes within the CI/CD pipeline.
  • Facilitate communication between development and test teams to ensure comprehensive test coverage and quick resolution of issues.
  • Support the implementation of automated testing frameworks and tools to improve software quality and deployment speed.


CDRL Development and Coordination:

  • Lead the development, review, and delivery of software related CDRLs in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Ensure that all CDRL documents meet quality standards and are delivered on time.
  • Coordinate with program management and other stakeholders to ensure CDRL requirements are understood and met.
  • Maintain detailed records and documentation for all CDRL activities.


Facilitating Communication:

  • Act as a liaison between development, operations, program management, system architecture, and test automation teams.
  • Foster a collaborative environment and ensure clear communication of project goals, priorities, and status.
  • Organize and lead meetings, workshops, and discussions to drive alignment and resolve issues.


Documentation and Reporting:

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for processes, procedures, and project status.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on system performance, project progress, CDRL status, and process improvements.
  • Ensure that all stakeholders have access to up-to-date and accurate information.


Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, system administration, or DevOps.
  • Active Top Secret security clearance and ability to successfully complete requirements and background investigation for SCI access.
  • Experience with project management tools such as Jira.
  • Experience in CDRL development and coordination.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
  • Familiarity with network security principles and practices.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Solid technical background with hands-on experience in software development.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.


Salary Range: $100,000 - $250,000 depending on experience
