As the Software Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, implementation, and support of technology solutions that support RGA's Investments and Investments Accounting Operations. You will lead an agile team working closely with cross-functional teams, Product Management, and Business Partners to ensure effective team delivery that aligns to the technology strategy and business goals, enhancing operational excellence. Champions a culture of innovation, collaboration and empowered teams and individuals.
Principle Duties:
* Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership to the engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
* Technology Strategy: Partner and provide input into the technology strategy supporting the investments business unit's objectives and drives continuous improvement.
* Software Development: Oversee the full development lifecycle for the agile team, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality technologies solutions that meet business needs and drives operational excellence.
* Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders, including product, business, and cross-functional dependencies, to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
* Architecture & Design: Partner and provide input to the architectural design of software systems, ensuring scalability, security, and performance in alignment with industry best practices.
* Budget Management: Manage the engineering budget for the agile team, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and adherence to financial goals.
* Talent Development: Mentor and develop engineering talent, fostering a high-performing team capable of tackling complex challenges.
* Innovation: Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, proactively identifying opportunities to leverage new tools and methodologies.
* Risk Management: Collaborate with risk management teams to ensure that software solutions adhere to regulatory requirements and industry standards.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
* ·Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
* Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Work Experience
* 9+ Years experience in technology engineering.
* 3+ Years in technology people management and team leadership experience
* Expertise in software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, etc.) and best practices.
* Experience leading engineering technology support for investment and/or finance business operations.
Skills & Abilities
* Highly advanced project management skills, demonstrating ability to evaluate project objectives and scope, analyzes objectives for feasibility, and gain business understanding.
* Highly advanced people management skills, demonstrating the ability to lead, mentor, and develop associates; including the ability to delegate key areas of responsibility.
* Ability to quickly adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions.
* Advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received. Advanced ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional and technical disciplines.
* Advanced ability to manage multiple projects and/or teams simultaneously.
* Advanced persuasion and negotiating skills when working with internal/external customers.
* Knowledge of modern programming languages. Knowledge of Agile methodologies; IT Infrastructure.
* Insurance and/or reinsurance industry knowledge
* Multi-lingual skills

Compensation Range:
$104,350.00 - $155,350.00 Annual
Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
