About the Role

As a Software Engineering Manager, Cloud Services, you will lead the development of scalable and reliable backend systems that power HP IQ’s mission to change how the world works. As part of HP’s Technology Innovation Organization (TIO), we foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and adaptability. Our engineering philosophy is rooted in abstraction, composition, automation, virtualization, and iterative development, ensuring a flexible and resilient services platform that drives experimentation and growth.

What You’ll Do

• Be a steward of the Cloud Infrastructure team, owning the project of our internal platform for developers.
• Architect, develop, and manage key components of our cloud service platform.
• Utilize modern containerization and cloud technologies, including Kubernetes.
• Act as the point of contact for collaborating cross-functionally with engineering, design, product, and marketing teams to help the team shape our product vision and deliver seamless user experiences.
• Lead full-stack engineering projects in collaboration with AI, device, web, and infrastructure teams with clear communication and execution.

Essential Qualifications

• 10+ years of software development experience with Java or similar languages.
• 3+ years of engineering management experience.
• Strong collaboration and leadership skills, with experience mentoring engineers and promoting best practices.
• Proven ability to translate ambiguous requirements into actionable solutions.
• A proven track record of automating tasks that make developers’s software engineering processes easier.
• Expertise in designing and implementing distributed, scalable systems.
• Deep understanding of public cloud infrastructure, including VMs, VPCs, storage, and IAM.
• Experience deploying and managing services on containerized platforms such as Kubernetes.
• Experience designing APIs and interfaces for diverse consumers, including factory lines, mobile devices, and web applications.
• Familiarity with software security best practices and systems handling sensitive user data.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with running infrastructure that hosts JVM-based microservices across many clusters.
• Proficiency in database schema design with technologies like CockroachDB.
• Knowledge of disaster recovery strategies and multi-region / multi-cloud deployments.

Salary range: $168,650 - $245,000

Compensation & Benefits (Full-Time Employees)

The salary range for this role is listed above. Final salary offered is based upon multiple factors including individual job-related qualifications, education, experience, knowledge and skills.
