At O.S., we are at the forefront of advanced technologies for Space and Ground applications, which we deliver thanks to the in-house availability of the complete value chain. Three of the main fields of application are: space systems for Earth Observation, Laser Communication terminals and optical ground stations (OSG), opto-mechanical instrumentation for Space Situational Awareness and Defense related domains.
Achieving such complex electro-optical instrumentation demands a multidisciplinary approach that seamlessly integrates expertise in opto-mechanics and electronics. Our Engineering division is structured into four key areas, each contributing to the successful delivery of bespoke ground or space solutions for our clients:
Mechanical Engineering. Our mechanical engineers are responsible for the project entire mechanical and structural process, from the initial concept design phase through detailed analysis and prototyping. They pursue adherence to customer requirements and specifications guaranteeing structural performance and manufacturability,
Optical Engineering. This team is involved in translating the project optical design into reality. This is possible thanks to the complete in-house availability of optical labs for grinding, shaping, polishing, coating and testing of all optical components, either lenses or mirrors up to 1.6m diameter.
Control System Engineering. Our control system engineers develop software that enable precise telescope pointing, tracking, and data acquisition. They employ sophisticated control algorithms and embedded systems to ensure great pointing accuracy, rapid target acquisition, and robust system performance in challenging environments.
Laser Communication Engineering. This team focuses on the development of laser communication systems, connecting expertise in optics, photonics, and advanced signal processing techniques. They design and develop high-speed, high-bandwidth communication links for a variety of applications, including satellite communications and terrestrial networks.
At O.S., we foster a collaborative environment where engineers deepen their specializations and acquire a solid interdisciplinary understanding, always considering real-world operational requirements. We are committed to ongoing research and development, exploring new technologies and pushing the limits of what is possible.
