A cutting-edge defense technology team is seeking a Chief Software Engineer to lead the development of next-generation mission planning systems used across airlift, refueling, search and rescue, and special operations platforms. This high-impact role will guide engineering teams delivering software that supports real-time, mobile, and full-spectrum operations for U.S. and foreign military aircraft.

๐ What Youโll Lead
- Provide technical direction for a 25-person engineering team building and sustaining advanced mission planning systems
- Serve as the primary technical interface with U.S. government customers and defense industry partners
- Oversee architecture, design, development, integration, and lifecycle support for secure, cloud-ready software products
- Champion modern development patterns (microservices, containers, SPA frameworks, cloud infrastructure)
- Lead continuous delivery efforts in an Agile, multi-team environment aligned with DevSecOps best practices
- Translate evolving military requirements into scalable and reliable software capabilities
- Ensure compliance, security, and performance across all development initiatives

What You Bring
- Bachelorโs degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including:
- 7+ years with C#/.NET
- 5+ years in team or project leadership roles
- Experience briefing customers and stakeholders
- Proficient with version control systems (Git, Bitbucket) and Agile development methodologies
- Experience with modern frameworks and architectures:
- Microservices, REST, Mono Repo, SPA
- Containerization and orchestration
- DevSecOps tools (Jenkins, Fortify, SonarQube, Nexus)
- Strong understanding of mission-critical systems in government or military domains
๐ Nice to Have
- Experience with ReactJS, TypeScript, and testing tools like xUnit or Selenium
- Familiarity with mission planning systems, DoD environments, or platform integration (C-130, C-17, KC-135, etc.)
- Exposure to system-level verification, mobile mission tools, and secure cloud deployments
