Position: Software Engineer (Java-Data-Cloud)

Location: Champaign, IL (Hybrid; local required, with driver's license)

Duration: 6+ months

Work Schedule: Night/weekend on-call production support (1-2 times/month)

### Key Responsibilities

• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure system reliability.
• Provide on-call and weekend production support, including incident resolution and rapid defect fixes.
• Collaborate with architects, testers, and support teams for defect analysis and resolution.
• Implement best practices for scalability, performance optimization, and cloud efficiency.
• Build automation tools for production support and troubleshooting.
• Communicate critical issues and resolutions to teams and stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain ETL processes and scalable microservices (Java, Spring, Python).
• Deploy and manage Kubernetes-based applications.
• Utilize CI/CD pipelines and monitoring tools (Jenkins, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk).
• Optimize performance for databases (Snowflake, ScyllaDB, Oracle, Couchbase).
• Ensure security and compliance in cloud and data operations.
  
  

### Required Skills & Qualifications

• 9+ years of overall experience.
• Bachelor’s/Master’s in Computer Science or related field.
• 2-5 years’ experience in Data Engineering, Software Development, or Cloud Infrastructure.
• Strong proficiency in Java, Spring, and Python development.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake, ScyllaDB, Oracle (SQL/PLSQL), and Couchbase.
• Proven ETL/data pipeline development experience.
• Experience with CI/CD tools: Gitlab, Bitbucket, Jenkins.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Kafka, and cloud security.
• Expertise in monitoring/troubleshooting tools: Prometheus, Grafana, AppDynamics/OTEL, Splunk.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
