SmartTek Global is supporting an innovative grid software startup backed by top-tier climate tech investors. They’re building out a new generation of grid connectivity infrastructure and they’re looking for a pragmatic, API-focused Software Engineer to help power the transition.

You’ll join a fast-paced engineering team developing cloud-based APIs and integration tools that connect DERs (solar, storage, EVs) to utility systems. Ideal for someone excited to work at the convergence of backend development and energy transformation.

What You’ll Do

• Build and maintain scalable APIs for DER/grid interaction
• Translate industry standards (OpenADR, IEEE 2030.5, IEC 61850) into clean backend logic
• Work cross-functionally with frontend developers and grid specialists
• Improve system performance, observability, and security
• Support platform integration with utility DERMS/NMS systems

Key Skills

• Strong backend experience with Python, Go, or Node.js
• Familiarity with REST APIs, OpenAPI/Swagger, and microservices
• Experience working in cloud-native environments (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS/GCP)
• Bonus: Experience with grid protocols, DERMS, or utility-facing APIs
