Are you excited by the challenge of integrating complex algorithms into robust, production-ready software?

A pioneering company in the space technology sector is seeking a talented Software Development Engineer (Algorithms & Frameworks) to join their innovative team. This company is transforming satellite operations by building next-generation software capable of supporting complex mission planning, orbit determination, and optimization algorithms.

About the Role

In this role, you will design and integrate a software framework using Python and C++ or Rust to support sophisticated physics-based models. Working closely with software and aerospace engineers, you will deliver a scalable, secure, and high-performance backend system optimized for thousands of satellite operations. You will also integrate AWS services (Lambda, EC2, S3, RDS, Fargate, EKS) and contribute to the system’s automation, cost-efficiency, and resilience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and integrate backend frameworks supporting complex aerospace algorithms
  • Build scalable APIs and containerized services using Python, C++, or Rust
  • Optimize software performance, scalability, and resource utilization using AWS services
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and task automation (preferably with GitHub Actions)
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with aerospace engineers, satellite operators, and frontend developers
  • Analyze and troubleshoot multi-tier architectures, distributed databases, and event-driven systems

What You’ll Need:

Eligibility: Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or otherwise ITAR-compliant

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field

Experience: 5+ years in backend development or related roles (or equivalent self-starter experience)

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Python, plus experience with C++ OR Rust,
  • Applied experience developing and validating physics-based or mathematical algorithms
  • Familiarity with containerized applications, serverless architecture, Git/GitHub, and CI/CD
  • Strong knowledge of AWS (Lambda, EC2, ECS, EKS, S3, RDS, CloudWatch)
  • Location: Must work hybrid, 2 days per week onsite, in either Seattle, WA or Arvada, CO

What You’ll Get in Return:

  • A flexible hybrid-first work setup
  • Comprehensive health insurance with 100% employee coverage
  • Unlimited PTO, with a required minimum of 15 days off annually, plus most U.S. federal holidays
  • Quarterly health and wellness benefits
  • 4% 401(k) matching to support your future
  • Quarterly company offsites to exciting locations to strengthen team collaboration
  • A fast-moving, evolving culture where you help shape the next generation of space technology

This is an exceptional opportunity for a driven backend engineer to help shape the future of satellite operations.
