Summary

Kikmo is hiring on behalf of our partner, a leading company in the semiconductor industry with operations in Belgium, a talented and motivated Software Engineer with a strong background in laboratory instrumentation, device drivers, and electronic laboratory automation. Responsibilities


  • Develop and maintain software drivers for laboratory instruments (oscilloscopes, analyzers, sensors, etc.) using C++ and Python
  • Design and implement automated laboratory workflows to streamline testing, data acquisition, and reporting.
  • Develop, run, and document software and system tests (unit, integration, system-level) to ensure reliability and accuracy
  • Integrate and control lab instruments via standard communication protocols ( eg; GPIB, USB, RS-232, Ethernet, PXI)
  • Collaborate with hardware, test, and R&D teams to define system requirements and ensure robust hardware-software integration


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong programming skills in C++ and Python
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in software development or a related role
  • Experience with laboratory instrumentation, device drivers, or hardware-software interfacing
  • Familiarity with communication protocols like GPIB, USB, RS-232, Ethernet, PXI, or similar
  • Hands-on experience with software testing, debugging, and validation
  • Knowledge of automation frameworks or tools for lab process automation


Preferred


  • Experience in laboratory automation systems (e.g., using LabVIEW, PyVISA, TestStand, or similar tools)
  • Background in the semiconductor industry or experience with semiconductor lab equipment
  • Familiarity with continuous integration, automated testing frameworks, and version control systems (e.g., Git)
