The Role

We're looking for a skilled Backend Software Engineer to join our growing engineering team in Chennai. You’ll be responsible for building scalable backend services using Python and FastAPI, with deployments and infrastructure managed on Google Cloud Platform. You'll work closely with frontend developers using Next.js and collaborate with product and design teams to deliver high-quality features.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure backend APIs using Python and FastAPI
• Integrate with Google Cloud services (Pub/Sub, Cloud Run, Firestore/BigQuery, etc.)
• Write unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and system reliability
• Collaborate with frontend engineers and product teams to define APIs and deliver features end to end
• Monitor and debug production issues, and continuously improve backend performance
• Contribute to code reviews, architecture discussions, and tech decision-making

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in backend development with Python
• Strong experience with FastAPI or similar web frameworks
• Experience working with Google Cloud Platform (or AWS/Azure equivalent)
• Solid understanding of REST APIs, async programming, and microservices architecture
• Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git)
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Nice to Have

• Experience with GraphQL
• Familiarity with frontend frameworks like Next.js (for collaboration purposes)
• Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Pulumi or Terraform)
