Role: Kong Lead Developer (Manager Level)

Location :Charlotte NC , Onsite

Job Type: Full Time only

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and configuration of APIs and custom plugins on Kong Gateway post-migration. Enable scalability, security, and observability through advanced Kong features and ecosystem integration.
• Build and configure APIs, services, and upstream targets on Kong Gateway.
• Develop custom plugins using Lua scripting for security and traffic policies (OAuth2, Rate Limiting, etc.).
• Manage Kong declarative configuration (YAML) and CI/CD integrations.
• Enable observability (e.g., Dynatrace, ELK) and integrate logging/metrics pipelines.
• Collaborate with QA, DevOps, and design authority teams for full lifecycle enablement.
  
  

Skills Required

• Proficiency in Kong Gateway setup, plugin development, and Lua scripting.
• Expertise in declarative configuration, Kong Ingress Controller, and security policies.
• Knowledge of observability tooling and CI/CD pipeline integration.
• Client-facing communication and stakeholder coordination.
• Experience working across onshore-offshore distributed teams.

Salary Transparency Language

At Capgemini, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. The base salary range for the tagged location is $86129 to $127189/yearly.

This role may be eligible for other compensation including variable compensation, bonus, or commission. Full time regular employees are eligible for paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), and any other benefits to eligible employees.
