This is a 12 month contract role with strong possibility for extension.

The Opportunity

As a Software Engineer in the Reinsurance Continous Delivery Team, you will play a key role in the implementation of the Strategic Reinsurance Platform. This involves integrating and migrating from existing sources while working closely with internal teams and outside vendors to deliver high quality software solutions. You will be responsible for advanced systems analysis, design, development, and maintenance, ensuring the smooth delivery of both new and existing platforms.

Your Duties Will Include, But Are Not Limited To

  • Analyse system requirements and develop technical designs.
  • Develop, maintain, and support application software.
  • Conform to quality assurance standards and agreed processes within the department.
  • Support the application software by analysing and fixing issues.
  • Perform unit and integration testing on developed code.
  • Produce thorough and effective unit and system test plans and participate in or support further testing phases.
  • Participate in and support the rollout of continous improvement initiatives.

Candidate Requirements

  • University degree in Business, Information Technology or related discipline (desired) or equivalent industry experience
  • A minimum of 5 years development experience within the information system field, with a minimum of 2 years in an insurance industry role
  • Experience supporting high availability production systems is highly desireable
  • Strong analytical, design and consultive skills
  • Strong programming skills
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently or within a team framework, and in varying customer environments
  • Strong time management, workload management and organisational skills
  • Ability to work with minimal direction and supervision
  • Sound working knowledge in appropriate software development tools.
  • Agile development methodologies, practices and principles - Full software development lifecycle
  • Change management practices in a parallel development environment
  • MS SQL Server (including SSIS and SSRS)
  • Azure Data Factory
  • .Net (Core and Framework)
  • C#
  • Terraform
  • Azure DevOps CI/CD pipeline
