Job Description

Metrics LLC is seeking a highly skilled Software Developer (Microsoft Azure Synapse Professional) as we compete for a contract with the U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO), Agency Information Technology Services. This contract focuses on Business Reporting Development & Maintenance. The GPO requires expert Azure Synapse and Power BI skills to develop, modify, and maintain reporting solutions and semantic models. This is a part-time position requiring approximately 60 hours per month, with a hybrid work arrangement to support collaboration both remotely and on-site.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance reports and semantic models using Microsoft Azure Synapse and Power BI.
• Respond to service desk requests for modifications and enhancements to existing reports and semantic models.
• Collaborate with IT/ADM management to prioritize and execute reporting development tasks.
• Analyze incoming work requests, propose plans of action or solutions, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
• Ensure all deliverables meet GPO COR acceptance criteria and fulfill business unit objectives.
• Assist in migrating reporting solutions from Business Objects to Power BI as part of the enterprise-wide initiative.
• Participate in code reviews and testing to ensure quality and performance standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to report functionality or data quality.
• Support data integration and transformation processes within Azure Synapse environments.
• Maintain documentation of report development processes, technical specifications, and user guides.
  
  

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years professional experience in software development with a focus on Microsoft Azure Synapse.
• Proficiency in developing reports and semantic models using Power BI and Azure Synapse.
• Experience working in a collaborative environment with assignment tracking systems such as Service Now.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with Business Objects and experience in migration projects to Power BI.
• Experience in federal government or public sector IT projects.
• Knowledge of data warehousing, ETL processes, and semantic modeling best practices.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with technical teams and business stakeholders.
