Lead Software Architect Infrastructure
About the job
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Software Architect Infrastructure to join our team in delivering state-of-the-art infrastructure solutions for naval ships. This role requires a deep understanding of both networking and software architecture, and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary Agile teams to deliver solutions that meet the rigorous demands of modern naval operations.
About you
As Lead Software Architect Infrastructure, you will be responsible for designing, overseeing, and ensuring the successful implementation of secure and resilient infrastructure based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Cisco technologies. You will work closely with the development teams and QA to implement development strategies and ensure that the solutions align with business needs. You have a capacity for continuous learning and are eager to stay up-to-date with industry trends.

Key Responsibilities and hard skills
Under the leadership of our Principle Design Authority (PDA) you will lead the design and implementation of our infrastructure solutions based on Cisco and RHEL to support mission-critical systems on naval vessels.
Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to define architecture requirements.
Oversee the integration of networking and server systems, ensuring they meet high security and performance standards.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams in the development and deployment of infrastructure.
Ensure that infrastructure designs comply with industry best practices, regulatory standards, safety- and cybersecurity protocols.
Stay up to date with the latest technologies and trends in networking and system architecture.
Ability to create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including architectural blueprints, design specifications, and API documentation.
Provide guidance and leadership of version control systems (e.g., Git) and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Lead Architect or in a similar senior (infrastructure) role.
Extensive understanding of networking technologies (switching, routing, firewalls, etc.).
Strong expertise in Linux administration and deployment.
Experience with virtualization, cloud technologies, and containerization is a plus.
Familiarity with safety- and cybersecurity best practices.
The ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and leadership abilities and experience in managing cross-functional teams.
Relevant certifications such as Cisco CCNA, or Red Hat RH124, RH134, RH294, or containerization CKA, CKS is a plus.
An important requirement to fulfil this role, is flexibility and the ability to communicate fluently in English to all types of stakeholders.
