NexGen Data Systems is hiring for a Software Architect supporting a government customer. The Software Architect will be responsible for designing and developing new software products and/or major enhancements to existing software. Other responsibilities will include addressing problems of systems integration, compatibility, and multiple platforms. This position will require an independently motivated self-starter as the Software Architect is also responsible for project completion and performing feasibility analysis on potential future projects for management. This role is based out of either Fort Belvoir, VA OR Washington, D.C.
Roles & Responsibilities
* Responsible for planning and organizing a software system.
* Dictate software coding standards and choose optimal tools for custom software development.
* Help translate ideas into technical tasks and correctly distribute them to the development team.
* Interact with clients, product managers, and developers to envision, model, and design the software solution.
* Advocate clarity and transparency between the client and the team.
* Perform regular code reviews to ensure the design quality and avoid overly complicated structures.
* Hands-on work on prototype development, code contributions, or technological assessment.
* Collaborate and mentor. Help the development team and enhance their knowledge.

Requirements
* Five (5) years relevant experience in planning, organization, and feasibility analysis of software systems.
* Requires a profound knowledge of software functionality, performance, viability, scalability, comprehensibility, security, and technological constraints.
* Secret or higher DoD security clearance is REQUIRED.
* DoD 8140 compliant certification is REQURIED.
* Outstanding organizational and time management skills
