Soft Structures Engineer - Sceye - Moriarty, New Mexico (Onsite)

Strativ are retained with the innovative aerospace company Sceye who are on a mission to uplift and connect all people and protect our planet by creating the most advanced product in the HAPS sector and the first platform designed for sustained flight in the stratosphere.

We are looking for a Soft Structures Engineer to oversee the design, development, and integration of flexible aerospace structures for spacecraft, satellites, and related systems. In this role, you will lead a team of engineers focused on creating lightweight, high-performance soft structures that play a vital role in ensuring mission success in the harsh conditions of space.

Responsibilities include:

• Oversee the design of flexible components, including thermal blankets, insulation materials, deployable systems, soft membrane structures, and parachutes.
• Select appropriate materials for soft structures, considering properties like flexibility, weight, thermal performance, and resistance to the harsh space environment.
• Conduct and supervise detailed structural analyses using FEA tools.
• Design and execute of tests for soft structures, including thermal cycling, vibration testing, and vacuum testing.

Qualifications include:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in the design, analysis, and testing of soft structures
• Extensive knowledge of the design principles and material selection for soft structures in space environments.
• Expertise in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software (e.g., ANSYS, NASTRAN, Abaqus) for structural simulations.
• Proven experience designing soft structures that interface with rigid spacecraft systems, ensuring overall mission success.
