Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

The Center for Aging & Health (CAH) and the Division of Geriatric Medicine (DGM) are organizations within the School of Medicine. Both organizations report to Dr. Jan Busby-Whitehead, Director of CAH and Division Chief of Geriatric Medicine. The CAH is an interdisciplinary group of professionals who promote the health and well-being of older adults. The mission of CAH is to provide leadership and support for interprofessional clinical services for older adults in the UNC Health system and other health care partners across the state, promote collaborative research in aging using principles of team science, provide aging expertise and service by collaborating with organizations, communities, and state agencies that promote the health and well-being of older adults, and support and prioritizing diversity, equity, and inclusion in all we do.

Position Summary

This new 5-year National Institute of Aging (NIA) R01 research study will investigate the optimal intervention sequence used to achieve weight loss in older adults with obesity and multiple chronic conditions needing ongoing care. The study aligns with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Strategic Plans for Obesity, Nutrition Research, and Precision Health, and is responsive to Notice of Special Interest (NOSI 22-203) and the Institute of Medicine's call for telehealth research that may influence policy by advancing health delivery science.

This position will serve as an Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator within the Aging and Health Center. The Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator assists with the execution of study protocols, including screening and recruiting study participants, conducting study visits, and collecting, entering, and reviewing study data.

The assistant CRC, under the supervision and direction of the PI/project manager, assist with monitoring reports for research projects, troubleshoot and provide feedback to faculty on study related procedures, ensure research compliance of study documents, with guidance from the PI/project manager, may be asked to assist with entering protocol amendments, and adverse events/safety issues and respond to IRB concerns as PI/project manager delegate.

Minimum Education And Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience

Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills; familiarity with using technology.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience

Relevant research experience, experience working in clinical or research settings, experience performing administrative duties and tasks.
