Job Summary

The SMT Technician is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of SMT (Surface Mount Technology) equipment on the production line. This role includes routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of SMT equipment, as well as assisting with asset management and supporting engineering efforts. The technician plays a key role in maintaining equipment performance, minimizing downtime, and ensuring production quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform regular maintenance on SMT equipment (e.g., loaders, printers, SPI, pick and place machines, reflow ovens, and AOI machines).
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment malfunctions.
• Conduct pre-operational checks after maintenance to ensure equipment runs smoothly.
• Update and maintain records of equipment movements and assist with asset transfers.
• Complete and update maintenance labels and records for all SMT equipment.
• Repair soldering irons and ionizer fans as needed.
• Maintain and calibrate feeders for placement machines.
• Assist with mid-year and year-end fixed asset inventories.
• Coordinate and manage daily tasks for the SMT team.
  
  

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in SMT or electronics preferred.
• Minimum of 2-3 years experience in SMT equipment maintenance or related technical fields.
• Skills:
• Strong knowledge of SMT equipment and components.
• Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate various SMT equipment.
• Familiarity with asset management and documentation.
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks associated with equipment maintenance.
