Summary

Position Overview: The SMT Programmer / Production Operator will assist in the manufacturing of LED tape (strip) lighting and controls and report to the engineering staff. This person will work with a small team to perform assembly of electronic components that includes preparation, placement and installation. Position Responsibilities: Programming and maintenance. Operate screen printer, pick and place machine, and reflow oven. Perform all facets of surface mount assembly. Coordinate introduction of new boards and E.C.N. changes. Manual assembly of electronic components including complex and high density projects according to assembly books, custom specs and quality standards. Perform hand soldering, inspection and rework of all thru-hole, SMT, mixed assemblies and custom parts as per Engineering specifications and IPC workmanship standards. Component preparation, placement and installation. Final assembly and/or pack and ship as required. Mechanical assembly as required. Conduct repair/touch up/modifications on the products as required. Be able to work on different aspects of the manufacturing operations. Participate in training and certification programs to ensure job knowledge and skills set. Participate in all team level quality improvement initiatives and safety procedures. Prototyping Position Requirements: Knowledge in printed circuit board related processes – soldering, cleaning, and repairing. SMT knowledge ideal. SMT knowledge in LED strip lighting and controls ideal. Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment, knowledge of standards in electronic components handling preferred. Hands on manufacturing skills such as manual soldering are required. Be able to work from blueprints, process sheets, a sample or other work instructions. Be able to work independently. Comply with all department and company rules. Excellent hand and eye dexterity/coordination. Working with extremely small parts using magnifying lenses and small hand tools. Attention to detail is critical. Self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision. Technical communication skills – must be able to interface with engineering and purchasing. Strong communication skills and a team player. Have the ability to use hand, air and power tools. Component sourcing experiences a plus. UL approval experiences a plus.
