Summary

GENERAL SUMMARY Under the direction and supervision of the Simulation Educator, the individual will provide technical support for all simulation operations, including, but not limited to, set up and breakdown of pre and post-simulation scenarios, contacting maintenance for any necessary repair of computerized mannequins (software and hardware) and simulation operator for the Division of Nursing. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Understand the use and operation of different simulator technologies, ranging from anatomic models and task trainers to high-fidelity computer-based simulators. Serve as simulator operator running scenarios with guidance from course faculty. Set up courses as specified in the curriculum and perform a breakdown after a course. This may involve rapid turnover of simulation lab set-up. Maintain an inventory of supplies and equipment. This includes completing inventory checklists and recommending to the Simulation Educator/Lab Coordinator based on observed needs. Conduct maintenance of simulation equipment. This includes cleaning, repairing, and ensuring all equipment is maintained and in good working order. Identifies technical problems/errors and initiates corrective actions. Collaborates with IT to ensure the proper functioning of equipment and network connectivity. Work with equipment manufacturers regarding equipment and software upgrades, updates, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Participate in technical training and simulation professional development. Attend department meetings as necessary. Other duties as needed. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Minimum Requirements: Two years prior experience in healthcare simulation, computer work, or comparable training Excellent communication skills Excellent organizational skills Proficient computer skills Knowledge of patient simulator technologies Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as Internet and database applications beneficial. Ability to learn new simulation software and hardware. Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding job assignments and sensitive issues, such as student performance. Self-motivated, requiring little to no supervision, and able to work effectively in a team environment. Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment; able to work evenings/weekends as needed. Possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Preferred Requirements: Prior experience in a healthcare environment Excellent simulation technical skills Knowledge of audiovisual equipment and software recording Ability to assess, troubleshoot, and fix equipment failures in a timely fashion
