Summary

The Simulation Collaborative at the University of Virginia School seeks a Simulation Operations Specialist or Simulation Operations Specialist Intermediate to support the education of medical students, nursing students, and other members of the healthcare team in the Simulation Collaborative. They assist in educational activities by offering pre- and post-simulation and surgical training support, coordinating technical and administrative tasks, maintaining documentation and resources, conducting simulation sessions, and collaborating with faculty and staff on skills and scenario development. This position will support the daily operations of the Simulation Collaborative, and other healthcare education activities, facilitating high-quality experiential learning activities for our learners. This is a full-time EXEMPT position with hours that will vary based on the scheduled educational needs of our learners. You can expect an average of 40 hours per week with the possibility of working early mornings, evenings, and weekends as the schedule dictates. JOB DUTIES Simulation Operations Specialists: * Operate simulations by programming, testing, and running scenarios alongside faculty instructors to ensure the Simulation Center and its equipment are prepared for learning sessions. * Gain proficiency operating a range of simulator technologies, encompassing anatomic models and task trainers, screen-based simulators, full-body patient simulators, and virtual reality surgical simulators. * Provide operational assistance in the Simulation Collaborative. * Acquire proficiency in all facets of equipment operation, maintenance, support, troubleshooting, repair, and replacement. * Communicate and provide feedback to the Director/Assistant Director of Simulation Operations, regarding technology, equipment, operational, and other identified needs essential for the overall maintenance and functionality of supported programs. * Gather data to support operational, research, and commercial initiatives as needed. * Engage in technical training as required and attend conferences to stay updated on advancements in simulation technology. * Lead facility tours and engage in events to showcase our programs. * Perform a trained or scripted role in simulation encounters as needed. * In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned. Simulation Operations Specialists Intermediate: * In addition to the duties listed above, * Execute simulation sessions without supervision and collaborate with faculty and staff on scenario development. * Maintain and update simulation hardware and software. * Care for equipment post-simulation, ensuring readiness for use in the next simulation. * Maintain inventory for high-fidelity simulation rooms. * Create learning materials and scenario documentation. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Specialist: * Associate's degree or experiential or functional equivalent in a healthcare or science-related field. Specialist Intermediate: * Education: Bachelor's degree or experiential/functional equivalent in a healthcare or science related field. Master's degree in healthcare simulation, a related healthcare or related educational field may substitute for some experience. * Experience: Two years of healthcare simulation experience. * Licensure: None required. A CHSOS, CHSE or CHSE-A certification may substitute for some experience. PHYSICAL DEMANDS * This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs * Must have the ability to move 50 pounds and remain in a stationary position for long periods of time. Anticipated Hiring Range for the Simulation Operations Specialist - $50,000 - $60,000. Anticipated Hiring Range for the Simulation Operations Specialist Intermediate - $60,000 - $70,000.
