Summary

Major Responsibilities: The Nursing Simulation/Lab Specialist is responsible for planning and assisting the major programs of simulation training and the overall functions of operations of the center. The simulation/lab specialist coordinates all logistics associated with program planning to support and maintain each event. The simulation/lab specialist is responsible for the day to day operations of the center. This includes: equipment and supplies procurement, daily scheduling of users, operations of simulations, orientation to simulation lab, and all support equipment, coordinating multiple activities supporting simulation events, set up and preparation of support equipment and detailed requirements for each event, and maintenance of all equipment at the Simulation Lab. Follow all FNU Policies, Procedures, Rules and Regulation and the FNU Code of Ethics. As well as, Title IX, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, as amended from time to time ("FERPA"), Florida Information Protection Act of 2014, as amended from time to time ("FIPA"), the EU General Data Protection Regulation as amended from time to time (GDPR) and all other applicable federal, state and local laws, rules, and regulations. Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Individuals assigned to this job may be asked to perform other duties as required. 1.Reads, understands and complies with the University's mission, the catalog, the University's policies and procedures, the Faculty Handbook, and the institutional effectiveness process. 2.Responds to communications (e-mail/voice-mail) on, at minimum, a daily basis. 3.Ability to communicate and work with a diverse population. 4.Ability to perform in and contribute to a team setting. 5.Represents the University, internally and externally, by participation on boards and committees and/or community service. 6.Attends all program and University meetings, advisory board meetings and in-services as scheduled. 7.Maintains current knowledge of program policies, procedures, and student clinical and academic progress. 8.Participates in pinning and graduation ceremonies. 9.Supports development with technical knowledge of the Simulation Center capabilities and procedures to ensure that simulation event curricula are accurate and appropriate. 10.Develops strategies to enhance programs and services, utilizing available resources and acquiring additional tools or equipment to create a realistic learning environment. 11. Solicits instructor and student feedback following simulation experiences to analyze the impact of simulation on the learning process. 12.Identifies opportunities for improvement, innovation, implementation and integration of patient simulation technology into existing healthcare curricula. 13. Assists faculty in the use of simulation/simulators. 14.Develops and implements policies, procedures and practice standards to support the Simulation Center goals, and educational objectives of the nursing and continuing education programs. 15. Responsible to maintain ensure that simulations programs user expectations. 16. Develops working relationships with administrators, faculty, staff and students within the university as well as with other simulation centers, community healthcare providers, and educational organizations. 17. Coordinates the scheduling of simulation events among users by establishing trends of high need. 18. Coordinates new equipment deployment. 19.Supervises preventative maintenance of equipment according to manufacturers' recommendations. Monitors schedules maintenance to ensure that equipment is operational. 20.Implements software and hardware updates provided by equipment and software suppliers. 21.Manages, maintains, and reorders all inventory supplies to support simulation events. 22.Obtain quotes, and recommends purchasing decisions based on simulation support needs. 23. Researches and develops relationships with vendors for supplies and equipment. 24.Ensures proper documentation of clinical simulation is kept and course objectives and learning outcomes have been met. 25.Evaluate simulation experiences using valid and reliable instruments 26.Ensure they are in compliance with Title IX of Education Amendments Act of 1972. Required Qualifications and Experience: * Must be a registered nurse (RN), with an active, unencumbered Florida Nursing License. * MSN required; Doctorate preferred. * Previous experience in simulation lab preferred and 1+ of teaching experience. * Working knowledge of computer software, used in support of teaching in a clinical setting. * Experience working with a variety of training equipment and technology used for nursing education. * Ability to work with faculty and students across undergraduate and graduate programs to assist with learning activities. * Excellent coordination and prioritization skills; ability to keep track of supplies, and equipment inventories. * Experience working in a fast-paced experiential teaching/learning lab and/or simulation environment. * Proficiency in MS software applications including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as Internet and database applications. * Ability to learn new software and hardware quickly and independently. * Ability to assess, troubleshoot, and fix equipment failures in a timely fashion. * Must be able to independently move equipment (less than 25 lbs.) and move manikins (less than 50 lbs.) with the assistance of others. * Experience working independently but contributing within a team environment. * Good customer service skills Note: The use of computers and university resources is limited to school business purpose.
