About The Role
The Shopify Developer will be responsible for developing and maintaining the Shopify website, ensuring that it provides an optimized and seamless experience for customers. This role involves close collaboration with the creative team to implement content updates, integrations, and technical adjustments to the website. As this is a part-time role, the ideal candidate will be comfortable working a set number of hours per week and balancing project needs with limited hours. The developer will also use Notion as a key tool for project management, task tracking, and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Develop, update, and maintain the Shopify website, ensuring optimal performance, functionality, and user experience.
- Collaborate with the creative team to implement video content, banners, and other digital media on the website.
- Implement design and technical changes based on business needs, ensuring compatibility with all devices and browsers.
- Manage and troubleshoot any Shopify store issues, including payment gateway integrations, product displays, and checkout functionalities.
- Optimize the site for speed, security, and user experience, ensuring that all elements are responsive and accessible.
- Set up and manage Shopify apps and integrations as needed to enhance the site’s functionality.
- Regularly update and maintain product pages, ensuring content is aligned with the brand and current inventory.
- Provide technical support to the team as needed, ensuring website issues are addressed promptly.
- Stay up-to-date with Shopify features, apps, and e-commerce best practices to continuously improve the site.
- Complete technical tasks and projects with a focus on delivering quality and within agreed-upon timelines.
- Use Notion for task management, tracking progress on development tasks, and collaborating with other teams on project deadlines and deliverables.
- Document technical processes, customizations, and Shopify development guides within Notion for easy reference by the team.
Competencies And Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Shopify Developer, with a portfolio or examples of previous Shopify sites you have developed or maintained.
- Proficiency in Liquid, Shopify’s templating language, and knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Experience integrating Shopify with third-party applications, payment gateways, and external APIs.
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively, delivering results on time in a part-time capacity.
- Familiarity with Shopify Plus (preferred, but not required).
- Experience in e-commerce best practices and performance optimization.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues quickly and efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Experience using Notion for project management, task tracking, and documentation.
Must-Have
- A minimum of 3-years of experience as a Shopify Developer with advanced capabilities and hands-on experience, with a robust portfolio or examples of previous Shopify sites you have personally developed or maintained.
- Strong proficiency with Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Experience working with Shopify themes, apps, and APIs.
- Ability to make updates and optimizations to the website on a part-time schedule (e.g., 15-20 hours per week).
- Solid understanding of e-commerce best practices and user experience design principles.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure high-quality work with minimal supervision.
- Experience using Notion for tracking and managing tasks, documenting processes, and collaborating with team members.
Nice-to-Have
- Experience with Shopify Plus or enterprise-level e-commerce websites.
- Familiarity with SEO best practices for e-commerce websites.
- Knowledge of version control systems like Git for collaborative development.
- Experience with Shopify apps like Klaviyo, Oberlo, Gorgias, or other integrations to enhance store functionality.
- Basic understanding of graphic design to ensure the visual elements of the site align with the brand.
