OuterBox is seeking a Shopify Developer (Solutions Engineer) who will play a vital role in developing competitive eCommerce websites that drive traffic and increase sales. The ideal candidate has strong front-end development experience with eCommerce CMS platforms, specifically Shopify, and has proven experience focusing on seamless transitions from design to completion while delivering well-written, efficient code.

• Build and maintain websites and web applications using modern web technologies and frameworks, ensuring high performance, scalability, and responsiveness.
• Develop and write clean, functional code that establishes websites and custom features, ensuring long-term success and growth.
• Populate customer content (including text, images, databases, and products) into Shopify websites and other open-source content management systems.
• Develop and integrate APIs, third-party services, and content management systems to enhance website functionality and user experience.
• Execute precise data mapping and efficient uploads for site build projects, contributing to seamless website development.
• Investigate and troubleshoot reported issues systematically, providing timely resolutions to maintain optimal solution performance.
• Conduct comprehensive quality assurance testing to ensure that solutions meet high standards of functionality, usability, and performance.
• Contribute to the team's knowledge base by documenting processes, solutions, and best practices.
• Build, test, and debug website forms and other website/server errors while anticipating potential bugs or inconsistencies proactively.
• Enhance existing eCommerce websites by developing new features, forms, and customizations based on data analysis from Google Analytics, conversion optimization, and A/B testing.
• Partner collaboratively with all departments across OuterBox to contribute to successful website launches that drive online leads for customers.
• Collaborate effectively with project managers, designers, and fellow developers to ensure project success, alignment with client objectives, and adherence to OuterBox standards.
• Work with marketing teams to communicate technical information clearly, fostering an environment of learning and growth for teammates.
• Strategically identify areas for greater efficiency, process improvements, and to support best practices and standards within the team.
• Continuously stay updated on web development trends, digital marketing industry shifts, and best practices to enhance your credibility with teammates and clients.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Work Environment

Fast-paced, dynamic office environment and may be required to work outside of regular office hours to resolve issues or complete projects of the department.

Required Experience

• Minimum 3 years of experience in Shopify development is required.
• Experience with eCommerce content management systems, specifically Shopify
• Strong proficiency with Liquid templating, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, and Git
• Experience customizing Shopify 2.0 themes and utilizing the Storefront and Admin APIs.
• Familiarity with Shopify Plus and advanced features like custom checkout and B2B.
• Practical understanding of SQL and server-side scripting.
• Experience with implementing and debugging third-party Shopify apps.
• Proficient in PHP, MySQL, and version control (Git/GitLab).
• Strong understanding of SEO fundamentals and the impact of sound web development on results.
• Familiarity with eCommerce platforms such as WooCommerce or BigCommerce is a plus.
• Experience using browser developer tools and extensions.
• Excellent communication skills, including active listening and critical thinking.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at different phases, with varying scopes, budgets, and timelines.
• Self-starter with an eagerness to learn new skills and improve existing ones.

Additional Experience

• Experience with React.js, Vue.js, Next.js, or TypeScript.
• Shopify headless development and Storefront API.
• Experience with metafields, product filters, and complex data structures.
• Familiarity with Liquid performance optimization and custom app development.

Physical Demands

• Primarily involves sitting at a desk and using a computer for extended periods of time.
• Light physical activity is also required, such as carrying equipment or setting up for presentations.
• Requires a high level of mental focus and the ability to work under pressure.
• Good manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination and the ability to use a computer for extended periods are required.
