Job Title: Safety Manager

We are a shipyard in Boston that prides itself on both the quality of our work and our strong, unique company culture. We specialize in the repair of U.S. military vessels as well as commercial and cruise ships.
Position Overview
The Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing and implementing safety protocols and procedures in the shipyard environment. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and the overall safety of all personnel and operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and enforce EHS policies and procedures in compliance with all OSHA, EPA and Massachusetts state regulations.
- Conduct safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Lead accident investigations, analyze root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
- Provide safety training and education to employees and ensure they understand safety protocols.
- Collaborate with department heads to promote a culture of safety and environmental compliance throughout the organization.
- Monitor and report on safety performance metrics and recommend improvements as necessary.
- Stay up-to-date with industry regulations and best practices related to safety management.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in shipyard safety management and environmental compliance.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
