Summary
Under direct supervision of the Shipping Lead the purpose of this position is to perform a variety of routine warehouse, shop, and yard duties including but not limited to, consolidating and preparing project re-assembly components, load / unload materials for shipment, maintain shipping supplies inventory, movement and distribution of goods and materials at the branch or from storage. Completes routine paperwork and documentation as required.
Principle Responsibilities and Duties
- Work outdoors and indoors covering flanges, taping and wrapping instruments and applying preservation methods for shipping preparation.
- Manually lift and load materials into crates on pallets and off \ on trucks safely.
- Compares identifying information, and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against drawings, BOM’s, bills of lading, PO’s, orders, or other records.
- Transfers materials and items from receiving or production areas to shipping or to other designated areas.
- Drives company vehicle, operates forklift to transport items from shop to shipping warehouse or storage as needed, as well as pick up items from storage as required.
- Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined areas. Marks material with identifying information.
- Prepares project skids, engines / motors, and ship loose materials, or other items accordingly. Initiate restock of ship prep supplies, as necessary.
- Works with Shipping Specialist and current shipping documents / programs to compete shipment materials.
- Assembles wooden or cardboard crates / cartons or selects pre-assembled crates.
- Prepare product for domestic and international shipping using proper packing techniques to insure safe arrival of goods and products.
- Determines best method of ship prep with components and materials for packing / shipping.
- Takes an active part in safety processes with maintaining the 5-S methods.
- Other duties as assigned by Shipping Lead
Qualifications
- Previous shipping and receiving experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of drawings and diagrams.
- Must possess aptitude necessary to do shipping prep with multiple pieces following standard practices in all weather conditions.
- Basic understanding light carpentry, banding machines, small hand tools.
- Able to operate a variety of light equipment, hand trucks and pallet jacks within a warehouse environment.
- Requires Valid Driver’s License, receive and maintain forklift and manlift certification.
- Good customer service skills; displays a professional can-do attitude.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Maintain daily equipment inspections.
- Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
- Overtime may be required as business need requires.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, fumes, or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud.
