The Shift Supervisor is responsible for providing the necessary leadership and coaching to assist employees in carrying out their responsibility of producing a quality product in a safe and efficient manner. This position works evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, and all local regulatory requirements, and report unplanned events as necessary.
Demonstrate value for EHS, enforce standards and drive accountability
Collaborate with all employees in the development of practices, policies, procedures, and corrective actions related to safety.
Facilitate regular shift safety meetings, and participate in safety audits.
Assist in planning, coordinating crews and production scheduling.
Support training schedules, and schedule coverage.
Review and approve payroll timesheets using electronic time system daily.
Provide direction in the daily operations of the assets to assist operators in resolving performance gaps vs. production plan.
Administer applicable discipline as it pertains to company major and minor rules.
Monitor and track periodic established Key Performance Indicators
Conduct first line troubleshooting on the assets and elevate issues on shift as needed.
Communicate operating deficiencies/opportunities to Superintendent/Technical Manager.
Provide routine support and back up coverage for Superintendents on PM5, PM6 and PM7 as necessary.
Maintain general plant housekeeping standards.
Other related duties as assigned or required.
Education And Experience
Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in the paper industry.
Prior supervisory experience a plus, preferably in a union setting.
Computer skills; including MS Office Suite and Oracle.
Working knowledge of ISO.
Physical Requirements And Environment
Have the ability to coach and interact with others in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.
Have the ability to frequently sit at a computer workstation for long periods of time.
Have the ability to walk and stand extensively wearing the appropriate PPE.
Have the ability to occasionally lift objects up to 50 lbs.
Have the ability to regularly climb ladders and stepladders during a shift.
Have the stamina to stand and flexibility to stretch/reach repetitively during the work day.
Have the ability to work in a fast paced environment.
Able to work 12 hour rotating shifts
