Job Summary
Responsible for managing, coordinating, and overseeing the day-to-day production and quality standards on assigned shift in order to meet daily production requirements. Responsible for supervision of approximately 15-20 direct reports.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Interviews, selects, and trains new staff in the department.
- Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
- Handles administrative, managerial and personnel responsibilities on assigned shift.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Direct and coordinate operations and activities within press and bindery departments to achieve department and company goals.
- Plan and establish work schedules, crew assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals
- Effectively communicate with all departments to ensure schedules remain on-time.
- Resolve discrepancies in job tickets and production issues to meet on-time delivery schedules.
- Assist in the development and implementation of process control improvements on the shift for cost savings, reduced spoilage and maintaining on-time delivery through the facility.
- Provide back up and coverage for other shifts as needed.
- Communicate results against published goals to shift associates and use results to incorporate accountability and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
- Hire, develop, supervise, support, and evaluate associates in area of responsibility to include supporting positive employee relations; enforcing company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines; ensuring policies are administered consistently and equitably; recommending and executing personnel actions; addressing associate complaints and resolving issues; completing routine administrative tasks such as approving time and attendance, reviewing vacation schedules, etc.
- Proactively support continuous improvement initiatives and activities.
- Consistently and effectively serve as a positive role model by living Sheridan’s core values.

Basic Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Knowledge of production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of product.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to focus, anticipate and recognize the needs of others.
- Must be able to assess situations, problem solve, and make decisions in day-to-day situations.
- Ability to accept constructive feedback.
- Ability to work independently, or in a team environment effectively.
- Proficient with computers, including Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Desired Skills And Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in related field required.
- Minimum 3 years of manufacturing supervision experience.
- Book printing/binding experience.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
Schedule is Monday to Friday, 3rd shift: 11PM – 7AM
Travel Requirements
- Minimal travel for seminars, job fairs, company meetings, etc.
- May require occasional overnight stay.

Working Conditions
Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with regular exposure to dust, dirt, noise, and physical hazards of machinery, plus some exposure to fumes, oils, lubricants, and chemicals. Position requires ability to move with ease in the production area; remain in stationary position for prolonged periods of time on concrete/hard surface; use hands and fingers constantly for handling, gripping, and manipulating product; constantly position oneself to complete work including bending, twisting, rotating, and reaching; and move product.
