Under the direction of the Shift Supervisor, this individual will be responsible for properly setting up their machine to the specifications of the sales orders, or the job traveler and the material being run should match up with the sales order and travelers. They will also be responsible for the packing of sheets on the correct skids based on our customer’s specifications, and if the sheets get cased or bagged then they will need to bring the finished skids to the case packing area.
Duties/Responsibilities
Clock in upon arrival, and clock out when leaving GF property.
Must be able to understand sales orders / job travelers that pertains to them as being both an operator and packager.
Knowledge and understanding of how our customers want their products packaged and placed on pallets using our Customer Packaging Book for reference.
Proper cleaning of the whole machine when needed to ensure quality of material and longevity of the machine.
Must know how to tell if cutting blades are getting dull and be able to replace them with sharpened ones.
Proper data collection in our Epicor software must be practiced.
Clocking into and out of jobs.
Claiming the correct number of rolls ran.
If rolls are stocked the correct number of rolls need to be received into inventory.
Issuing out the correct amount of material used to complete the job.
Look at Customer Shipment Entry Dashboard to verify if they need to find a partial skid to add to, or if they need to start a new skid for the part that is scheduled and to be able to verify sheet count when jobs cross-over shifts.
Understand how to make part labels with Epicor, Bartender Print Station, and Label Matrix.
Knowledge of why and how to reinforce skids when needed while safely using power tools and pneumatic tools.
Must have awareness of surroundings and be able to pay attention to details.
Required Skills/Abilities
Operate an electric or manual hand jack.
Good oral communication skills.
Self-motivated and interested in learning other positions.
Good understanding of basic math skills (+, -, x, /)
Ability to accurately use a tape measure.
Able to work in a fast-paced team environment.
Must work well with others in a team atmosphere.
Excellent attendance.
Detail / Quality oriented.
Work overtime when needed.
Able to maintain a clean work area.
Be a safety conscious individual who takes their time to do all duties properly and safely.
Education And Experience
High school diploma or GED and manufacturing experience preferred but not necessary.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods standing and lifting.
Must be able to lift 60 pounds.
Must be able to traverse facility on unforgiving surfaces.
Must be able to work in hot and cold climates and in an environment with various noises.
Safety Requirements
Must wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE): Safety Glasses must be worn while in the production areas.
Must wear work appropriate apparel. No hoodies, open toe shoes or head/earphones.
Must use proper lifting techniques.
Must Use proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) rules for mechanical issues.
When using chemicals, must replace them in the original container and be labeled to identify the contents inside.
Must make sure there is at least one person who knows where you are always in case of fire or natural disaster as part of the buddy system.
