AIT, LLC is actively seeking experienced Sheet Metal Mechanics. This position plays a crucial role in fabricating, assembling, and repairing sheet metal products. The ideal candidate must have at least 5 years’ mechanic experience working in a ship repair environment, passion for precise work, and a keen eye for detail.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Fabricate, assemble, remove, repair, and install sheet metal products and equipment such as shipboard heating, ventilation, A/C ducting, cabinets, shelving, berthing equipment, galley equipment, bulkheads, Nomex decks, and drop ceilings.
Utilize various tools and equipment to cut, bend, shape, and form components
Read blueprints, sketches, and work specifications
Tack welding
Minor carpentry work
Adhere to safety protocols and regulations at all times
Other duties as assigned
Understand and act upon instruction
Collaborate with team members to achieve production goals
Qualifications
Must be a U.S. citizen
5 years mechanic experience in shipyard/ship repair environment required
Must have or be able to obtain a DBIDS badge for base access
Must pass a drug test and background check
Thorough knowledge and experience working with a variety of hand and power tools
Must be able to read and interpret blueprints
Must have knowledge and experience with tack welding
Must be able to work and communicate effectively with others
Must have regular, reliable attendance
Must have reliable transportation
