Positive Childhood Alliance Georgia (PCA Georgia), formerly Prevent Child Abuse Georgia, is housed in the Mark Chaffin Centers for Healthy Development, School of Public Health, and is seeking a Sponsor Funded Communications & Media Manager who will be responsible for increasing PCA Georgia’s reach and influence across all sectors of Georgians. Reporting to the Assistant Director of PCA Georgia, the Communications & Media Manager improves public understanding, knowledge, and acceptance of primary prevention tactics, which ultimately influences a movement where Georgia families feel supported, connected, and children are nurtured within their families and communities.
Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To:
Content Creation and Execution:
- Develop content for various collateral, digital newsletters, social media, and web to educate stakeholders and community members on strategies to strengthen families.
- Collaborate with PCA Georgia project managers to develop content (e.g., newsletters, impact reports, social media posts) for individual initiatives within PCA Georgia such as Find Help Georgia, Strengthening Families Georgia, the Georgia Family Support Network and Georgia Essentials.
- Create ongoing collateral and special campaigns that demonstrate the relevance of PCA Georgia’s work through compelling narratives and visuals that can be used as donor appeals and in grant proposals. (Example are Council Toolkits that include educational materials like tip sheets, social media content, community engagement resources, branding and campaign assets, event planning resources)
- Coordinate communications calendar that aligns with communications and marketing plan as well as programmatic needs
- Assist in promoting special events including targeted marketing, coverage of events, and event follow-up communications, for both virtual and in-person events.
- Use and administratively manage technology platforms (e.g., Adobe Suite, Salesforce, WordPress, Hootsuite and others) to develop and deploy communications.
- Write annual appeals and other marketing/fundraising materials
- Assist with proofing and editing of materials and documents as needed
- Work in collaboration with graphic designers and subject matter experts to merge written and visual aspects of communication
Administrative Communication:
- Assist in planning special events, including helping with logistics and coverage of events for both virtual and in-person events.
- Manage invoices, contracts, and vendors related to communications in GSU’s tracking system to ensure timely payment
- Participate in professional development virtually and in-person that enhances communication skills and subject matter knowledge
Media Relations:
- Develop media relations across the state and facilitate coverage of PCA Georgia’s work
- Lead and manage media outreach and content to strengthen and build brand and visibility that highlights PCA Georgia’s thought leadership and expertise as prevention experts
- Initiate and nurture strong relationships with writers, editors, bloggers, influencers, and other media reps to get the organization featured in high-profile print, broadcast, and digital publications
- Act as a communication liaison to key internal and external audiences
- Work with staff to manage April’s Child Abuse Prevention Month’s public awareness and impact campaign
Marketing Strategy Leadership:
- Work with PCA Georgia staff and contractors to deploy an integrated branding, marketing, advertising, and communications strategy utilizing a full suite of digital marketing tools to achieve the goals and vision of child and family well-being, social norms
- Serve as primary hub for PCA Georgia to ensure internal and external marketing activities align agency’s branding and marketing strategy.
- Develop measurable tracking methods for public relations, marketing, and advertising campaigns.
- Track communication analytics, log analytics in quarterly reports, and discuss internally to adjust communication strategies.
Editor:
- Oversee the development and design of internal and external publications
- Assist with proofing and editing of materials and documents as needed
- Ensure quality control of all publications and communications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a business field and two years of supervisory or managerial experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
