Jaris is seeking a Servicing and Collections Specialist to join our Operations Team. In this role, you'll manage and execute daily servicing and collections operations with a focus on reducing net collection costs and minimizing losses. You'll work directly with small businesses to help them stay on track with their financial obligations, while also providing valuable insights about our merchants to the broader Jaris team. The ideal candidate will quickly develop expertise in our credit and banking products and play a key role in shaping both the product roadmap and the merchant experience within a collaborative, agile team environment. This is an onsite role in Burlingame, CA.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of delinquent merchant loan accounts, proactively contacting merchants via phone, email, and other channels to collect outstanding balances and negotiate repayment plans.
- Conduct skip tracing to locate hard-to-reach merchants and enforce UCC filings when necessary, coordinating with legal or enforcement teams as appropriate.
- Maintain a professional, firm, and customer-focused approach in all communications while ensuring compliance with corporate policies and regulatory requirements.
- Accurately document all customer interactions, payment arrangements, and collection efforts in the CRM system.
- Analyze payment trends and portfolio performance, preparing reports on delinquency rates, resolutions, and high-risk accounts for internal stakeholders.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks, including fraudulent activity or non-compliant accounts, and escalate unresolved or complex cases to management.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with teams such as revenue, risk, legal, and product to resolve merchant issues, improve tools, and deliver customer insights.
- Ensure all collection activities are performed in accordance with legal, ethical, and company standards.
Qualifications (Onsite Role – Burlingame, CA):
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Servicing & Collections role within a fintech or banking financial institution; commercial lending experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to succeed in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving startup environment.
- Proven track record of working both independently and collaboratively across cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional organizational, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated and results-driven, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines consistently.
- Experience with HubSpot is a plus.
- A proactive, self-starter mindset with a strong drive to improve collection metrics and enhance the overall collections process.
Nice to Have:
- Understanding of UCC filings, enforcement processes, and legal collection procedures.
Applicants located in the San Francisco Bay Area, the expected annual base compensation range for this role is $85,000 to $105,000 USD. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Jaris and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location.
