Service Workers are responsible for the maintenance and custodial work on County Connection vehicles, equipment, buildings and grounds. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Fueling of County Connection vehicles, including adding lubricant and coolant, and the cleaning of parts.
Checking and servicing batteries.
Inspecting County Connection vehicles for fluid leaks.
Removing and replacing fare box vaults.
Cleaning and maintaining County Connection vehicles and Maintenance facility; operating bus washing equipment.
The Service Worker classification is considered to be a safety sensitive position under the drug and alcohol testing programs issued by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). Therefore, the employee is subject to substance abuse testing.
Requirements
Education equivalent to a high school diploma or general educational development (GED).
Must be able to obtain a Class B Commercial driver’s license, including the required endorsements and the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used to maintain a fleet of vehicles in a safe manner.
Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions followed in heavy equipment repair shops.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to complete forms and write routine reports.
