Position Summary:
This leadership role oversees service operations, including financial performance, personnel management, and growth initiatives. The position is responsible for managing field technicians, service administrators, and supporting the service sales function. A key focus is on expanding market share, enhancing service offerings, and developing a high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and support service field personnel across multiple trades to enhance technical and leadership capabilities. Participate in hiring, training, and retention efforts.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop and manage departmental budgets, KPIs, and operational metrics. Accountable for P&L performance and aligning expenses with business goals.
- Supervise the service administration team to ensure efficient scheduling, coordination, and billing of preventive maintenance, repairs, and projects.
- Support the service sales team in securing new clients, maintaining service contracts, and driving quoted work. Assist with sales commission planning.
- Work cross-functionally with teams such as marketing, fleet, IT, finance, HR, recruiting, and training to support local service operations.
- Champion safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with all requirements, and conduct monthly meetings to reinforce company-wide updates and service objectives.
- Foster partnerships with union leadership and apprenticeship programs to attract top talent and maintain strong labor relations.
- Actively seek customer feedback to ensure high-quality service delivery and exceptional client experiences.
Requirements for Success:
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently and make sound business decisions.
- Experience developing and implementing policies and resolving operational issues.
- Able to consult on decisions affecting long-term strategic goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- 10+ years of leadership experience in service operations within the HVAC or control systems industry.
- Proven success managing a service business generating $5M+ in revenue.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, team-oriented leadership style.
- Expertise in service operations, project delivery, and customer relationship management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; broad understanding of HVAC and building systems.
