Senior Wintel Engineer

London - (On-site/Hybrid depending on business needs)

We’re hiring a Senior Wintel Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of enterprise Windows and virtualization infrastructure across on-premises and Azure environments. Based in London, this is a high-impact technical role for a seasoned infrastructure expert with deep knowledge of VMware, Wintel, Azure IaaS, Active Directory, and automation.

The Role

• Architect and manage Wintel environments across on-premises and Azure IaaS
• Build and maintain VMware platforms (vSphere, vCenter, ESXi) and virtualized workloads
• Automate provisioning and configuration using Ansible, PowerShell, Python, Bash
• Manage Active Directory, Group Policies, Entra ID, and authentication services
• Handle server patching, hardening, and compliance alignment
• Provision and monitor cloud infrastructure, backup, and networking on Azure
• Support storage integration and provisioning with Pure Storage (basic knowledge required)
• Work cross-functionally with security, networking, and DevOps teams
• Guide and support junior engineers to embed best practices and technical excellence
  
  

What You’ll Bring

• Minimum of 15 years of experience in Wintel engineering and enterprise IT infrastructure
• Advanced knowledge of Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), Active Directory, and VMware
• Hands-on experience with Azure cloud, automation, and hybrid environments
• Strong scripting skills in Ansible, PowerShell, Python, and Bash
• Solid understanding of security, compliance, and infrastructure hardening
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Relevant certifications (VMware VCP, Microsoft Azure Admin/Architect) are a plus
  
  

Nice To Have

• Experience with hybrid cloud deployments and Azure migration strategies
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) and IaC principles
• Good grasp of enterprise networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, VPN, Load Balancing)
• Working knowledge of ITIL processes for change, incident, and problem management
