Summary

Reporting to the CEO, this Senior Vice President will play a key leadership role in managing this business line in Space and Intel.   SMX seeks an executive leader with deep expertise in leading and growing a Space Software Solutions business in a performance-driven environment.  This executive must be comfortable evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of the team and act decisively to foster an environment where superior quality of work and predictable revenue growth can be achieved. 

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Assume P&L management of the $40M+ Space business, including operations, account management, project management, and project delivery.
  • With the sales team, provide input on and participate in executing the business development plan, including identifying target clients and key executives, leveraging and partnering with the existing customer base, and capitalizing on thought leadership development and market visibility opportunities.
  • Develop and lead a first-rate team known for meeting and exceeding objectives and proactively creating opportunities within the Space, Intel, and commercial sectors.
  • Oversee strategic vision and evolution of Space capabilities to ensure solutions meet customers' complex, evolving technical requirements.

The SVP's role requires an individual with broad experience managing organizations and projects focused on the government sector. This individual must be a senior executive who can establish strong relationships with key members of the Federal community and internally with SMX’s high-performing team. Experience managing a business in a matrixed environment would be helpful.  The successful candidate will have proven experience leading an organization and a high impact and influence on the culture. The successful candidate will have excellent industry/customer knowledge and a demonstrated track record of leading large growth initiatives and winning large and complex technology solutions opportunities in the government services sector. S/he should have experience with the organization’s core offerings, including software development, data analytics and visualization, sensor data processing, space ground systems, and programmatic support. This executive should also have a strong personal brand with market and customer visibility. The role will advise the CEO on plans for key customers and provide additional leadership and expertise in other new business matters, including strategic planning, competitive intelligence, and market analysis. This role also contributes to the leadership by providing guidance and counsel as required on operational issues in collaboration with their direct reports from contracts, finance, human resources, and technology.

Required Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will have the following demonstrated experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities to include:

  • 10+ years’ experience leading large-scale organizations within Space and/or Intelligence, driving growth while mitigating risks through exceptional operations management expertise.
  • Extensive knowledge within the domain of Software Development best practices.
  • Extensive knowledge of government contract management specific to Space and/or Intel sectors, best business practices, internal policies, and procedures related to those sectors.
  • Strong commercial, business, and financial acumen, including P&L experience and understanding of financial drivers related to profitable growth and revenue goals within the Intel and Space segments. Giving Clients the Confidence to Move Forward with Their Plans
  • Proven ability developing and executing complex strategic initiatives particularly within fields like space situational awareness, space communications, satellite systems integration, and intelligence missions.
  • Creativity and latitude relying on extensive experience and judgment in planning and accomplishing goals.
  • Strong industry network among customers, partners, and competitors relevant specifically to the space and intelligence industries.
  • Minimum active Secret clearance required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Technology, or a related field (Master’s Degree preferred)
