The company is developing an artificial intelligence (AI) powered technology stack for driverless commercial trucking applications. Kodiak's unique modular hardware approach integrates sensors into a streamlined sensor-pod structure that is purpose-built for perception, scalability, and maintainability. We are looking for a Senior Vehicle Integration Engineer experienced in new product and system-level integration work. The role will work closely with the rest of the hardware, systems, and manufacturing organizations to facilitate new platform development and continuous improvement of our existing fleet.
In this role, you will:
* Own the integration, troubleshooting and build events for sensors, compute, actuation, and vehicle systems
* Coordinate and execute builds with cross functional teams (ME, EE, Mfg, and Vehicle Operations)
* Provide Design-For-Manufacturing and Serviceability feedback for low to mid-volume manufacturing processes.
* Inspect hardware quality at various levels, and resolve manufacturing/build issues
* Collaborate with the larger hardware team to develop vehicle and subsystem BOM's.
* Drive build and system documentation creation such as drawings, schematics, and build instructions, and incoming hardware quality tests/checks.
What you'll bring:
* Strong technical background. BS or MS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with 6+ years of experience in the autonomous vehicle, automotive, or related industry.
* Strong system analysis and problem solving skills; understanding and debugging complex systems is exciting for you.
* Hands on. You are just as comfortable with a wrench as a keyboard. You are confident with automotive electronics and are familiar with communication protocols and tools such as Ethernet, CAN.
* Experience with scripting and data analysis languages such as Python or Matlab.
* Understanding of Linux based systems and computer networking
* CAD experience with packages such as SolidWorks
* A team leader. Whether formally or informally, you have previously played the lead role on several projects. You take ownership and drive the team to deliver exceptional results
* Great communicator. You have experience writing clear, concise, and detailed documentation. You are skilled in leading and participating in cross-functional design reviews.
* Proven ability to drive testing through development, execution, analysis, corrective actions, and final report outs. You have experienced product development in all of its stages and are comfortable in the earlier stages - moving from zero to one.

The annual salary range for this full-time position in California is $175,000-$220,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Please note that the compensation details listed above are base salary only and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits.
