Fieldpiece is hiring a
Sr. Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer (SQA Engineer) to ensure the products and components supplied by ODM suppliers meet the company’s specifications, quality standards and regulatory requirements. You’ll collaborate closely with ODM/OEM/Suppliers and partners to implement robust quality systems, resolve issues, and drive continuous improvement. Experience working with suppliers in the APAC region and/or speaking Mandarin is a big plus. The position requires 30-50% travel – national and international.

What You’ll Do
- Develop and maintain supplier quality assurance strategies tailored to ODM/OEM partnerships.
- Qualify and audit ODM/OEM partners and suppliers according to company standards (e.g., ISO 9001 or industry-specific requirements ISO 80079).
- Manage PPAP/FAI submissions and ensure timely approval of supplier production readiness.
- Review and approve quality plans, control plans, and process flows provided by ODM/OEM/Suppliers.
- Drive root cause analysis and corrective action processes (8D, DMAIC, etc.) for supplier-related issues.
- Monitor supplier performance using KPIs (e.g., PPM, OTD, audit scores, supplier score cards-SSC.) and initiate improvement plans where needed.
- Support new product introduction (NPI) by ensuring supplier quality readiness during development and ramp up phases.
- Collaborate with R&D, Procurement, and Manufacturing to align design for quality with ODM/OEM/supplier capabilities.
- Participate in Engineering Change Management processes involving ODM/OEM/Suppliers.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field).
- 5+ years of experience in supplier quality or manufacturing quality, preferably in an ODM or EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Services) environment.
- Strong knowledge of quality standards (ISO 9001, 13612, 80079 etc.) and industry best practices.
- Experience with supplier audits, PPAP, P/FMEA, SPC, and MSA. (Current ISO auditor/lead auditor qualification an advantage)
- Hands-on experience with problem-solving tools such as 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa, etc.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g., RoHS, REACH, FCC, CE, PROP65 etc.).
- Proficient in interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and project management skills.
- Ability to travel 30% domestically and internationally.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working with overseas ODMs (e.g., in Asia-Pacific region).
- Experience in Lean/KT methods Preferred certificates in such methods.
- Knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., Dynamics, SAP, Oracle)
- Experience in Quality Management Systems, ISO 9001:2015, ISO 80079-34 (an Advantage)
- Multilingual capabilities, Mandarin, or other relevant languages are a plus.

The California base annual salary range for this role is currently $110,00-$135,000 plus bonus. Pay scales are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to, job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.
