About the Role – We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join the Newcastle Office. This opportunity would suit ideally have significant experience as a Senior Structural Engineer within a consultancy environment experience. The successful candidate will have the chance to work in one of the UK’s leading private Engineering Consultancies, providing integrated solutions for a range of public and private clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Managing UK based projects, in accordance with UK Building Regulations and other relevant UK standards, across a range of the main industry sectors such as industrial, residential, retail, commercial and healthcare.
- Liaise with and lead other members of the design team to achieve a coordinated design solution that meets the Clients objectives.
- Structural engineering assessment and inspection of new and existing properties in steel, concrete, masonry and timber.
- Undertake analysis and design using a range of software packages including Tekla Structural Designer and Tedds.
- Ensure that quality and consistency of technical output (drawings, reports etc.) is maintained.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects, large and small.
- Prepare high quality technical reports including structural surveys.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience in the use of Eurocodes and relevant design codes and standards.
- The desire and ambition to promote the company from within. This may involve representing Fairhurst at external networking and social events.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s or Masters Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Chartered or near Chartered status (MICE or MIStructE).
- Varied experience in all the common forms of construction and building types.
- Excellent report writing, communication and numerical skills required.
- Previous experience in a UK Consultancy
- Full clean driving license
