We’re Sparky – an app built by electricians for electricians. None of that corporate nonsense – just real tools for real tradies.

We’re on a mission to make life on the tools a bit easier and a lot safer. Whether you're up a ladder or in the van, you can fill out certificates on the go and even knock up circuit designs straight in the app.

Right now, we’re mobile-first, but a desktop version is on the cards soon – because not everything should be done with thumbs.

Tech-wise, we speak React Native (mostly), with a strong side of builder’s tea.

Looking for someone awesome (yes, you?) who either has experience or is itching to dive into the start-up world.

Responsibilities:

• Writing clean, high-quality, high-performance, and maintainable code
• Designing and developing software including mobile applications, backend services, database integrations, and new feature enhancements
• Supporting the testing, deployment, and monitoring of new features and products
• Collaborating cross-functionally to ensure projects align with business goals and meet compliance standards
• Participating in and leading code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge
• Helping shape technical direction and architecture decisions as we grow the platform
• Working with third parties

Qualifications:

• Comfortable working in a start-up or agile environment – where specs change, ideas evolve, and sometimes things break (and that's OK)
• 5+ years of professional experience in software development (but hey, if you’ve got less and can still run circles around us, we’re all ears)
• Strong experience with React Native – bonus points if you've shipped production apps
• Solid understanding of modern JavaScript/TypeScript, mobile app architecture, and common libraries (Redux, React Navigation, etc.)
• Experience working with APIs, backend integration, and ideally a bit of database know-how (we're not expecting a full backend wizard, but you should know what a query is)
• Familiarity with testing, deployment pipelines, and CI/CD processes
• Able to work independently but also thrive in a team – we like grown-ups who don’t need micromanaging
• Bonus: machine learning experience

What’s on the table:

• Full time (but also open to 2-3 days a week), with at least one preferred in-person at our lovely spot in Battersea Power Station (yes, it’s as cool as it sounds)
• A mix of salary and equity – we’re pre-revenue, so we’re offering £250-£400 per day (or salary equivalent)  + a meaningful equity stake. As the company grows (and your role with it), so will the compensation. We’re building for the long game, and we want you in it with us. Our ideal candidate is therefore someone who is excited to build the best possible product and sees the huge potential upside of equity.
