Job details

Software Engineers have experience overseeing software development projects, writing optimised code, and provide technical leadership to a team of software engineers. They are responsible for the quality and functionality of the software produced by their team.


Key duties and responsibilities

The Specified Personnel will be responsible for providing the following deliverables including but not limited to:

  • Undertaking technical analysis and design to achieve required business and legislative changes
  • Providing development effort estimates on the scale of technical changes required
  • Supporting Business Analysts by providing technical advice when necessary
  • Developing and implementing efficient ICSE Code and Reference Data in a timely manner that effectively addresses the needs of business
  • Maintaining and support systems in the Production environment, including investigating production issues and production release support
  • Producing technical documentation to support the changes implemented within the ICSE software application and peripherals, such as XML
  • Proactively identifying environmental issues and provide testing support
  • Supporting and guide colleagues regarding software system advice and reviews
  • Providing on-call and onsite release support


Selection Criteria

Essential criteria

1. Programming/software development level 5 Takes technical responsibility across all stages and iterations of software development. Plans and drives software construction activities. Adopts and adapts appropriate software development methods, tools and techniques. Measures and monitors applications of project/team standards for software construction, including software security. Contributes to the development of organisational policies, standards, and guidelines for software development.


Desirable criteria

1. Previous experience working in Agile projects including experience in and/or exposure to JIRA and Kanban.

2. Experience and knowledge of the following tools: JIRA, SQL, Visio, XML, Confuence, ADO (or similar)

3. Previous experience working within an IT project environment (minimum three years)

4. Mainframe programming concepts and experience
