Location: Hybrid in Cedar Rapids, IA (3+ days/week in office) or Fully Remote (with 2 team-building trips to HQ per year) SwineTech is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with strong Python skills and infrastructure experience to help us scale our platform and bring meaningful innovation to animal agriculture. You'll join a collaborative, fast-moving engineering team that's passionate about solving real-world problems-and not afraid to get a little mud on our boots doing it. What You'll Do: * Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs using Python * Lead infrastructure and systems-level initiatives to improve scalability, observability, and resilience * Support data pipelines and backend integrations that power our core products * Collaborate closely with engineers, product, and customer-facing teams * Mentor teammates and help shape the future of our backend architecture What We're Looking For: * 5+ years experience as a Software Engineer * 2+ years experience with infrastructure, backend, system design * Strong experience developing backend systems in Python * Solid understanding of infrastructure, systems design, and cloud-native tooling * Familiarity with SQL and modern data tools * A proactive mindset and willingness to take ownership of tough technical challenges Bonus Points For: * Experience with GCP, BigQuery, or DBT * AI/ML exposure, especially in production environments * Comfort lending a hand with internal IT tasks from time to time (e.g. device setup, basic troubleshooting) Our Tech Stack: * Python, SQL, DBT * Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Cloud Functions, Firebase, etc.) * Flutter for mobile * Next.js for web Why SwineTech?
