Senior Backend Developer (SQL & Node.js)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Backend Developer with expertise in SQL and Node.js to join our engineering team. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable backend systems that power our applications. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Node.js/Express frameworks and advanced SQL database knowledge. It is a hybrid position based in Karachi.

Key Responsibilities

-Design and implement robust, scalable backend services and APIs using Node.js and Express

-Architect and optimize SQL database schemas, queries, and stored procedures for performance and reliability

-Lead the development of new features, from conception to deployment

-Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic

-Implement security and data protection measures

-Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability

-Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code

-Conduct code reviews and mentor junior developers

-Troubleshoot and debug complex issues across the application stack

-Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve development efficiency and application performance

-Participate in agile development processes and collaborate with cross-functional teams

Requirements

-Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)

-5+ years of professional experience in backend development

-Strong proficiency with Node.js and Express framework

-Advanced knowledge of SQL database design, optimization, and query tuning (MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MS SQL Server)

-Experience with RESTful API design and implementation

-Strong understanding of asynchronous programming and its patterns in Node.js

-Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines

-Knowledge of server security, authentication mechanisms, and best practices

-Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns

-Experience with testing frameworks and methodologies
