Job Description

The Sr. Scientist/PM will assist their assigned Managing Consultant with execution of assigned tasks, production of on time and high-quality work product, and management or coordination with other team members as assigned or requested. The Sr. Scientist/PM is responsible for supporting the success of their entire assigned practice area/practice division as the highest priority, regardless of any assigned sub practice area focus, or specific client engagement or relationship. In any coordination or management activities, the Sr. Scientist/PM will perform assigned tasks in a manner that models the Company’s core values and inspires and encourages goal achievement through empowerment, learning, and creativity among the team.

Operations, Business Development, Leadership, Strategic Planning

  • Conduct subsurface investigation and environmental remediation work
  • Plan and perform multi-media sampling
  • Oversee subcontractor work
  • Write detailed environmental site assessment reports and/or other technical assessment reports including the preparation of accurate data/summary tables and/or figures
  • Assist senior managers in meeting milestones, budgetary limits, deadlines, or other performance indicators.
  • Assist in the selection and/or management of project staff members and subcontractors.
  • Prepare and implement Health and Safety Plans/Job Safety Analyses for sites.
  • Responsible for supporting assigned Managing Consultant in meeting or exceeding the defined annual budget for the entire practice area (including proactive management of assigned resources to meet or exceed defined utilization targets, oversight of execution of profitable engagement work streams, and communication with clients as assigned or requested)
  • Support assigned Managing Consultant in monitoring of all relevant data such as individual utilization performance vs target, client deadlines, accurate and timely timesheet data, etc.
  • Effectively coordinate with other team members as requested or assigned, able to provide guidance and monitor progress on assigned tasks or projects, and ensure work product produced by self or other assigned team members is consistently high quality
  • Meet or exceed defined individual average utilization goals as set forth by company leadership
  • Coordinate and support other team members as assigned in a “lead by example” manner, with emphasis on positivity and a culture that is empowered to execute
  • Be aware of and work in a manner that supports the organization’s vision and defined business objectives
  • Cooperate in construction of strong cross-functional teams (support staff assignments of self or assigned team members toward this end) to achieve success in shared goals, understanding that multiple perspectives and talents build stronger teams and results
  • Ensure compliance of operations with all local, state and Federal (and International, if applicable) regulations, as well as compliance with company policy
  • Ensure consistent high quality on deliverables for all individual or assigned team member work product


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, geology, or related field
  • Minimum of 3 to 7 years of professional experience in the execution of Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, Phase II Subsurface Investigations, and Remediation
  • Proven track record of independent work product production, project management, communication, and coordination with other team members
  • Knowledge of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) Technical Requirements for Site Remediation and New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) regulations. Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) Act 2 experience is a plus.

  • Able to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with co-workers and Supervisors, and clients, subcontractors, and vendors as assigned

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Ability to perform exceptionally under fast-paced conditions
  • Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.), and proficiency or working knowledge with AutoCAD, TurboCAD and/or Geographic Information Systems (GIS) programs a plus.
  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard (HAZWOPER) 40-Hour training certification required.
  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction training certification required (training provided if necessary).
  • Ability/willingness for frequent regional travel up to 100%, with occasional overnight, extended stay and/or national travel. Travel may include car, train, or plane as necessary, sometimes with little advanced notice
  • Possession of a valid driver's license is required for this role, as it involves the frequent use of rental cars or company vehicles


Additional Information

The pay range for this role is between $60,000 - $80,000 based on experience.
