Job Description

Provides primarily pre-sales technical support for the development and implementation of complex products/applications/ solutions. Works with partners, and sales to ensure that optimum systems solutions are provided to new and existing customers. Uses in-depth industry and product knowledge to provide technical expertise to sales staff and the customer through sales presentations and product demonstrations. Develops processes and systems to provide a quick yet thorough response to customer Requests for Proposal. Assists the sales staff in assessing potential application of company products to meet customer needs and may prepare detailed product specifications for the development and implementation of customer products/applications/solutions. May create detailed design and implementation specifications for complex products/applications/solutions and provide consultation to prospective users.

Responsibilities

  • A Sales Engineer (SE) is a unique individual who combines the communications skills to build strong professional relationships with the technical skills to develop compelling network solutions that solve customers’ business issues. The SE partners with an Account Manager to drive revenue growth for Juniper by delivering business success to our customers and partners.
  • Daily activities include direct customer & partner engagement; comprehensive discovery, information sharing & collaborative solution design; proposal development; solution demonstrations; proof-of-concept test design & execution. SEs also work collaboratively within Juniper to highlight emerging customer requirements & use cases, convey competitive landscape, and coordinate with Juniper & partner professional services to ensure implementations meet or exceed customer expectations. Additionally, time is invested in technical, professional and leadership development through self-study and formal training.

Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a pre-sales SE in Large-scale Enterprise, Service Provider, or similar Networking and Security environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Juniper solutions or equivalent
  • Experience designing/engineering data center and cloud technology solutions.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and operating large scale Campus and Enterprise LAN/WAN solutions.
  • Experience in design, engineering, and deployment of Security and SD-WAN solutions.
  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or Equivalent Experience.
  • Advanced Industry Certifications are desirable.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires solid foundations in Juniper’s core technical competencies: Routing, Switching and Security. This includes concepts such as BGP, OSPF, MPLS, 802.1X, 802.1Q, Firewall/UTM, IDP/IPS, IPSec/SSL VPNs, Private/Hybrid Cloud, EVPN/VxLAN, WALN, SD-WAN, and SDN/NFV technologies.
  • Experience designing/engineering LAN/WAN, Campus (Wired and Wireless), Data Centers, Security, SD-WAN, and Cloud technology solutions.
  • Experience implementing and operating mid-large-scale Campus and Enterprise Networking and Security solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship, and communication skills with experience in customer-facing sales activities.
  • Must have strong written, oral, and presentation skills with the ability to discuss highly technical concepts to a variety of audiences, including executive level technical decision makers.
  • Proficient understanding of the pre-sales engineering function and sales, business development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Juniper product line, key competitors, and vertical market use cases.
  • Proficient understanding of emerging technology areas. This includes Virtualization, VMWare, OpenStack, Contrail, VNF, and Container solutions.
  • DevOps experience with proficiency in automation using Python, Chef, Puppet, and/or Ansible.
  • Familiarization with Linux operating systems including RedHat, CentOS, and/or Ubuntu.
