Summary

Qualification of camera-based vision modules with a focus on functionality and robustness:
Planning, development, and execution of test scenarios that simulate the use of the vision module under various environmental influences (lighting conditions, weather, vegetation, terrain types) (combination of real and synthetic test data). This includes not only the actual test execution but also the generation of KPIs for objective comparability and structured test documentation/reporting.
Analysis and evaluation of system performance: Evaluation of the reliability and functionality of the vision module in terms of object and ground recognition as well as VSLAM under various conditions (day, night, sun, rain ...)
Analysis and evaluation of robustness: Definition of environmental tests under which the vision module must be qualified (humidity, dust, temperature ...)
Cross-functional teamwork: Close collaboration with development teams, system architects, and system validation and testing to ensure smooth integration into the overall lawn mower robot system. Requirements:
Educational Background: Degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechatronics, Electronics or related fields. Experience:
In-depth knowledge of vision systems for object and ground recognition and VSLAM as well as their qualification (functionality & robustness) and performance validation
In-depth knowledge of KPIs/criteria by which a vision module should be qualified for functionality and robustness
Knowledge in handling real and synthetic image data for test coverage
Good understanding of environmental influences on optical systems and their relevance to real test conditions Technical Skills:
Experience in optics and image processing
Knowledge in simulation frameworks for synthetic image data
Experience in setting up test automation (e.g., Recompute Pipeline)
Experience with test management tools and frameworks
Knowledge in Python, C++ is desirable
Collaboration Skills: Experience working with European (especially German) teams and working within complex development projects. Personal Attributes:
