Job Title: Senior Roadway InspectorJob Description
We are seeking a dedicated Senior Roadway Inspector to join our Transportation Department. The role involves technical work in supporting higher-level technicians and engineers across various functional areas such as construction inspection, surveying, scheduling, roadway design, traffic signal equipment, and materials sampling. This position demands significant decision-making and judgment and may involve guiding other team members.
Responsibilities
+ Perform independent complex inspections of roadways and materials to ensure compliance with contract specifications.
+ Conduct moderately complex inspections and supervise other inspectors in routine and standardized inspections.
+ Inspect asphalt and concrete for material quality and mix, and pavement for proper spreading, rolling, depth, alignment, and compaction.
+ Examine roadways and structures for adherence to plans and specifications, including structural operations such as foundation excavation and placement of piling, reinforcing, structural steel, concrete, and backfill.
+ Assess traffic control and erosion control devices for proper implementation.
+ Perform complex calculations and computations related to inspections.
+ Execute contract documentation duties, including field measurements of pay items and other required documentation by the Department.
+ Undertake additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ Experience with roadway and transportation projects.
+ Familiarity with asphalt and concrete inspections and structural steel projects.
+ Proficiency in earthworks and construction inspection.
+ Great client-facing and mentoring experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Graduation from a university with a degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
+ Considerable knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction.
+ Proficiency in mathematical functions including geometry and trigonometry.
+ Drafting skills and proficiency in using office equipment such as calculators and computers.
+ Ability to read, interpret, and explain roadway construction plans, contract provisions, specifications, and inspection procedures.
+ Good communication skills and ability to instruct other employees in proper work methods.
+ Valid motor vehicle operator's license in accordance with Georgia Law.
Work Environment
This is an onsite role where the candidate will travel to various projects across Savannah to complete inspections and reports on transportation projects. The work schedule is Monday to Thursday from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM and Friday from 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM. The company offers a family-oriented culture and strong benefits and compensation packages.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $79000.00 - $85000.00/yr.
