Summary

Job Title: Retirement Benefits Consultant

Location: Deerfield, IL (On-site 5 days per week)

Duration & Type: Deerfield, IL or Chicago, IL (Hybrid – Onsite in Deerfield Required on Tuesdays; Additional 2 Days Flexible Between Offices)

Compensation: Competitive W2 Hourly Rate ($63 - $70), 401(k), Access to Healthcare and Dental Insurance Plan of Choice. (Benefit Plans can be requested at time of submission to client)

What You Will Be Accountable For

  • Provide advanced analytical support related to retirement plan operations, including cost modeling, benefits utilization analysis, and participant behavior insights
  • Analyze complex census data to support vendor negotiations and strategic decision-making
  • Conduct audits and reconciliations of assigned retirement programs to ensure regulatory and plan compliance
  • Act as a subject matter expert in developing and reviewing employee communications, plan documentation, and summary plan descriptions (SPDs)
  • Lead or contribute to open enrollment communications, vendor messaging, and plan design documentation updates
  • Engage vendors to resolve complex benefits issues and identify opportunities for operational improvement
  • Review plan documents for accuracy and updates due to renewals, legal changes, or negotiations; audit plan operations for compliance with plan provisions
  • Conduct new hire benefits orientations with a focus on retirement programs
  • Provide guidance to managers and employees regarding retirement benefit questions
  • Evaluate vendor RFP responses to assess value, compliance, and alignment with organizational goals
  • Mentor, coach, and provide guidance to junior benefits analysts

What Qualifications You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in corporate retirement benefits or total rewards
  • Strong understanding of retirement program administration from both operational and client-facing perspectives
  • Experience working with SAP, SuccessFactors (People Central), and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Prior exposure to Fidelity retirement systems is a plus
  • Proven experience with benefits communications, vendor management, audits, and compliance
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently within a collaborative team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to coach junior staff and contribute to cross-functional projects
