Job Description
Stellantis is looking for a highly qualified expert in rail logistics and network design to optimize and enhance the rail transport of materials and vehicles within its global supply chain. The ideal candidate possesses in-depth knowledge of freight rail operations, rail infrastructure, and logistics network planning, with the goal of supporting the efficient transport of raw materials, components, and finished vehicles from suppliers to plants and from plants to dealerships.
This role requires strong analytical skills, experience with big data tools and network simulation software, as well as expertise in rail regulations and cost modeling. The candidate will work closely with rail operators, third-party logistics providers (3PL), and internal teams to optimize rail transport efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure alignment with Stellantis' sustainability goals.
Key Responsibilities
Rail Transport Network Design & Optimization
- Develop and optimize rail transport solutions for inbound (supplier-to-plant) and outbound (plant-to-dealership) flows.
- Analyze rail logistics networks to identify cost-saving opportunities, efficiency improvements, and CO₂ emissions reductions.
- Collaborate with rail operators, terminal managers, and logistics providers to enhance transport reliability and performance.
- Implement big data analysis tools and simulation models to optimize rail transport scheduling, capacity planning, and multimodal integration.
- Evaluate trade-offs between rail and road transport, ensuring the most efficient and cost-effective modal choice.
Infrastructure & Operational Strategy
- Ensure alignment of Stellantis' logistics network with existing rail infrastructure and intermodal hubs.
- Support the selection of rail terminals, loading/unloading operations, and coordination with port and road logistics.
- Develop business cases for infrastructure improvements in collaboration with external partners to optimize Stellantis' rail flows.
- Monitor rail network constraints, capacity bottlenecks, and service reliability, proposing improvement solutions.
Regulatory Compliance & Cost Modeling
- Ensure compliance with rail regulations across different operating markets (EU, North America, and other regions).
- Stay updated on rail regulations, safety standards, and sustainability policies impacting freight transport operations.
- Work with internal teams to implement Should Cost modeling for rail transport pricing and budget planning.
Cross-functional Collaboration & Sustainability
- Collaborate with internal supply chain, procurement, and logistics teams to align rail transport strategies with Stellantis’ operational goals.
- Support CO₂ emissions reduction initiatives by promoting increased rail transport usage and improving intermodal efficiency.
- Engage with external stakeholders (rail operators, logistics providers, infrastructure managers) to develop long-term rail partnerships.
- Lead projects to integrate digital rail tracking systems and real-time visibility solutions into transportation operations.
Requirements & Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in rail logistics, transport network design, or supply chain management within the automotive sector.
- Strong knowledge of rail transport infrastructure, multimodal logistics, and vehicle distribution networks.
- Experience with big data analysis, network simulation software, and logistics optimization tools.
- Familiarity with rail regulations (e.g., EU TEN-T, AAR for North America).
- Expertise in Should Cost modeling, rail transport pricing, and logistics cost analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills in complex logistics environments.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in other languages (French, German, Spanish, or Italian) is a plus.
Why Join Stellantis?
- Contribute to Stellantis’ global rail transport strategy.
- Work on cutting-edge projects in logistics optimization, big data analysis, and CO₂ emissions reduction.
- Collaborate with leading rail operators, logistics experts, and supply chain professionals.
- Play a key role in building a more sustainable and efficient automotive transport network.
