What’s the position?

We are looking for a Sr QA Automation Engineer to join our quickly growing product and technology teams. As a Sr QA Automation Engineer, you will work as part of our QA team to automate test flows and plans that mimic different functional scenarios. The role requires an individual that’s dedicated to the customer’s experience, able to clearly voice and document issues and concerns within their testing remit, and is passionate about sports. You will be responsible for the quality, scope, and timeliness of all your deliverables. Because we operate with a startup mindset, we will be reliant on your skills, but also your passion and ownership over all aspects of your work.

As a Sr QA Automation Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

• Develop, execute, and maintain JavaScript-based performance tests using the Grafana K6 framework to simulate high load on Hard Rock Bet web applications.
• Leverage Shell scripting to automate complex test workflows and support performance testing.
• Maintain and run Python-based Locust scripts during the transition to K6, and gradually phase them out.
• Create and manage test data to support load testing scenarios; this may include some SQL queries and basic db knowledge.
• Develop and manage automated tasks and workflows using Rundeck and TeamCity.
• Install, configure, and manage performance testing tools as needed.
• Analyze test results, track metrics, and generate status reports to inform stakeholders.
• Investigate failures, perform root cause analysis, and collaborate with developers to resolve issues.
• Optimize test scripts for better efficiency and scalability.

Team Collaboration & Leadership

• Collaborate with developers, QA analysts, product owners, and other stakeholders to gather test requirements and align on priorities.
• Mentor junior team members, providing guidance and support in best practices for load testing and automation.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure test scripts meet quality and coding standards.
• Become a subject matter expert on the application and its performance characteristics.

Workflow & Process

• Work on multiple tasks simultaneously, effectively managing priorities.
• Attend all scheduled meetings promptly and contribute meaningfully.
• Follow Kanban Agile methodology to track and manage tasks.
• Stay up to date with industry trends, new tools, and best practices to continuously enhance the testing process.

Key Skills Required for This Position

• Over 5 years of experience with JavaScript, focusing on automation, showcasing strong technical expertise and leadership in automated testing.
• Solid background in backend API automation testing, which is considered a strong asset.
• Strong proficiency in Python, capable of developing efficient, scalable, and maintainable automated test scripts.
• Thorough understanding of mobile operating systems (iOS and Android) and the overall mobile app development lifecycle.
• Deep knowledge of web technologies including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with practical experience using browser developer tools for debugging and analysis.
• Skilled in using version control systems like Git for effective codebase management and team collaboration.
• Proven experience working with CI/CD pipelines, integrating automated tests into development and deployment workflows seamlessly.
• Comprehensive understanding of QA methodologies, industry standards, and best practices, with a strong commitment to quality.
• Advanced analytical capabilities to detect patterns and trends, identify areas for improvement, and drive high-quality deliverables.
• Exceptional attention to detail in creating, executing, and maintaining complex automated test scripts to ensure maximum coverage and reliability.
• Ongoing commitment to professional development, with a focus on staying current with emerging tools, technologies, and industry trends to foster innovation.

Key skills required for this position:

• 5+ years of experience in Locust Framework (Python).
• 5+ years of experience in API Testing.
• 3+ years of experience in PyTest Framework (Python).
• Understanding of web and API/WebSocket/GraphQL.
• Understanding of database technologies such as PostgreSQL, SQLite, and Snowflake.
• 1+ year of experience developing bash scripts.
• Experience with Git version control system.
• 3+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines in TeamCity or Jenkins.
• In-depth knowledge of quality assurance principles, best practices and testing standards
• Strong analytical skills to identify patterns, trends and possible areas of improvement
• Ability to deliver clean and maintainable Python code.
• Ability to provide constructive feedback in code reviews.
• Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on industry trends and emerging technologies
• Ability to work on multiple tasks at the same time.
